Rand Paul Sparks Controversy with Call to Impeach Chuck Schumer Over “Incitement” Comments

In a move that could send shockwaves through the Senate chamber, Senator Rand Paul is reportedly exploring the possibility of introducing an impeachment resolution against Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, citing “a clear pattern of incitement and abuse of power.”

The idea, first floated behind closed doors, stems from Schumer’s 2020 remarks on the steps of the Supreme Court, where he warned Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch they would “pay the price” for decisions on reproductive rights. While the comment drew a public rebuke from Chief Justice John Roberts at the time, no formal action was taken.

Now, in light of what Paul calls a “dangerous double standard,” he believes it’s time to revisit the incident—not as a political footnote, but as grounds for removal.

“If Donald Trump can be impeached over speech, then Chuck Schumer must be held to the same standard,” Paul told a group of reporters in an off-record briefing, according to a Senate staffer familiar with the discussion.

The proposed resolution is not yet finalized, but sources close to Paul say a draft is being reviewed by constitutional scholars and could be filed within the next legislative session. The move is expected to be symbolic rather than successful, as Democrats hold the majority and would almost certainly vote it down.

Still, the political implications are real.

“This isn’t about removing Schumer tomorrow,” said one senior GOP strategist. “It’s about holding Democrats accountable with the same energy they’ve directed at Trump and conservatives.”

Schumer’s office has not publicly responded to the threat of impeachment, but Democratic aides have dismissed the idea as “political theater.”

Paul, however, appears undeterred. “When a high-ranking official threatens Supreme Court justices in public, it sets a dangerous precedent. There has to be a line, and Schumer crossed it.”

Whether the resolution moves forward or not, Rand Paul has once again positioned himself as one of the Senate’s most unpredictable and unapologetic voices—one willing to target even the most powerful figures in Washington.
